WindShape performs critical wind and cold weather drone testing

The Center for Hydro and Aero joined WindShape at the WSL Laboratory for Avalanches and Snow Research SLF to perform critical drone tests in cold temperatures (-10 degrees Celsius) and seed dendritic snow (produced artificially by SLF) on a free-flying drone.

Testing commercial drones are expensive & inefficient. These drone tests are also limited in repeatability, and are usually missing the digital tools to capture the needed data for validation & compliance.  In this test at the WSL Laboratory, WindShape solved the problem by providing the missing digital link to realize the desired testing outcomes that accomplished: quantifying the data that was collected, capturing sufficient data to support mitigations, and validating those mitigations for the WSL Laboratory for Avalanches and Snow Research SLF.
